Second Opinions of Treatment Options

Hello! This is Dr. Barber -  I'd like to clarify why we specifically offer this service. The process of foot and ankle surgery is incredibly intricate, involving 28 bones and numerous joints. As walking involves dynamic movements, the way we walk can evolve over the years. Through experience, I have discovered that many patients feel more confident in their decision to undergo surgery after receiving a second opinion from me. It is important to note that this is not an attempt to poach business from other providers, but rather an opportunity for patients to receive feedback on the advantages and disadvantages of any potential decision.

Second Opinion Q & A

Surgery

What is a second opinion?

A second opinion for surgery refers to seeking the professional advice of another doctor or surgeon, typically after receiving a diagnosis and recommendation for a surgical procedure from one physician. The second opinion is intended to provide the patient with an additional perspective and assessment of their medical condition, treatment options, and potential risks and benefits of surgery.

Patients may seek a second opinion to confirm the initial diagnosis and treatment plan, explore alternative treatment options, or gain more confidence in their medical decision-making.
